Fabulous! I wonder if you’d be willing to do a few for the outdoorsy same-sex types out there so I can share these with all my friends? I’m thinking Lynn Hill, Steph Davis, Helen Thayer, Rachel Carson, etc.

Yes, you should end every post with a bear reference.

The bear looks genuinely intrigued about whether or not that is, in fact, a sandwich.

Very funny! I know Abbey had a way with the ladies, but I have a feeling he’d have some choice Abbey-esque prose to counter that attribution! :-)

    The bear is my favorite!

Brendan…you sure know how to instantly turn a confident and poised outdoorswoman into a semi-rad hot mess. Thanks for that.

you should start a semi-rad dating service. as i am not too sure i could ever muster up the courage to talk to alex honnold without sounding like a total moron, much less ask him to marry me, i’d happily be your first customer. your matchmaking option could include such things as how much dirt accumulation and sweatiness is desired on the first date. :)

Well played – but where’s the expedition climbing one? “Hey Girl, Need me to give you rub down after carrying that heavy pack all day? How about if I rub your feet, too while I’m at it?” ;)

When I took up running again, the hashtag I use to (occasionally) tweet about it is #outrunbears. I am glad to see this because it makes me realize that while I don’t think I can (now or ever) outrun bears, I am fairly certain I can outrun a sandwich.

PS. I loved the bear one so much, I made its own meme. I included the website so I hope it drives more traffic your way.

Been a camper, in some fashion or another, for 60 years. I once invited a friend to go camping with me. His reply: ” F that, I grew up in a drafty old farm house with no indoor plumbing and wood heat. I had to get up before dawn, stoke the fire and do farm chores. I would wake up some mornings with frost on top of my blankets, My life was camping every day, albeit in a house instead of a tent.”
